No real loss then I guess. I gave up rather quickly on that one. I guess my thing with survival games is that I’m less and less willing to trudge through as much bullshit. I can play hard games and struggle through. I can play bad games and struggle through. But I can’t do both and the survival genre seems to have a lot of both.

Survival games. I want to like em. I’ve tried tons of them. Green hell, 7 days to die, Dayz, hell, even Fallout 76, and lots more. Most of them don’t give you a tutorial, let alone any clues. I get that they’re supposed to be difficult, but most are arbitrarily difficult. But at least tell me how to fucking take something out of inventory and into my hand! It’s not like if thrown into a survival situation I would somehow forget how hands work. And if you’re not going to give a tutorial, at least let me start in a safe area so I can figure it out.
7 days to die really pissed me off because as soon as I’d find a gun, a stupid dog would come out of nowhere straight for me, and they take insane amounts of shots to put em down but the ammo is really REALLY scarce. Seriously though, what kind of dog can take 10 rds at point blank, and be totally unfazed? Someone later told me to combine a rock and a stick and that’ll get them in one hit. Come on, 10 rds won’t do it but a club will?
Or games with like 56 health indicators and you have to keep track of all of them? I’m sorry you’re bored, dude in the zombie apocalypse, but get the fuck over it. How can he be bored?!? Is survival not stimulating enough?
CoD hasn’t been worth playing in at least 10 years even if it is free.
Didn’t even really need a scanner. I realized it when I started reading it in the voice style of an AI YouTube video.
My kid has been saying he hopes it happens. At the moment it’s just a fantasy of exploration and no school, and not some psychotic thing. I haven’t really explained yet how bad it will be, or how imminent it really is. Poor kid should get to be a kid as long as possible before he bears the weight of reality.

I only achievement hunt for certain games. Granted, I’m not a hardcore gamer or anything. I’m probably the guy that most hardcore gamers hate. I’m old school, in my day, you could just pick up a game and go. You’d peruse the manual a bit on the ride home from the store and you’d have a pretty good idea of how to play it once you got home. Some games today are still that way, hell some are so intuitive that you just pick it up and you already know how to play(spiderman), some haven’t changed enough in decades to be a problem. (Gran Turismo, call of duty, Madden). However even if you understood HOW to play a game, some were just hard AF. Everyone understood how to play the stampede level on lion king, very few could beat it.
The point of that previous paragraph is to put a perspective to my response. There weren’t achievements growing up. In fact, many games were so hard, or so badly designed that it was nearly impossible to beat unless you were so ridiculously dedicated that you wouldn’t have enough time to get into other games. I played the original command and conquer games and absolutely loved them but tropico has like 45 fucking menus and I just can’t remember or be bothered to learn every single minute detail. However, Gran Turismo only got more detailed gradually enough that it came naturally, even if I skipped several iterations. My point is, I try a lot of games, especially the free stuff on PS+, that I like the idea of, but when I play it I’m just like nah, fuck this like tropico, I even made my guy look like trump lol. Or games that are too big that I’m just not gonna try to 100% but I love all the same like cyberpunk. I really like DayZ but I never played the arma games and have no idea really what I’m doing. It’s fun but I know getting platinum just isn’t happening but I have fun.
So I guess my point is, I don’t blame anyone for not getting platinum. Currently I only have 4. All the insomniac spiderman games and fallout 4. I want to play a game for the game. Hunting trophies feels like a job, unless I realize I’m pretty close just by playing the game. So if someone wants to play a game without achievements being shown I wouldn’t judge. I like fighting games but won’t play DOA because I dont want to catch shit from my friends for being thirsty.
Also sorry if my post is a little disjointed and rambling. I’ve been writing this during commercials while also getting progressively more buzzed.

I quit Xbox after 3 Xbox 360s got the red ring of death just after the warranty expired. I’ll never go back even though I want clockwork revolution and a couple other exclusives.
They really fucked up on their marketing by saying everything is an Xbox. Confusing non-gamers, annoying real gamers, and disappointing aspiring gamers.
Those three companies are dead to me, even if they hold some IP I used to hold dear.
Yeah, I enjoyed it for what it was.
Yeah at least with fallout there were really generous, friendly people to help navigate you through the wasteland. That game and culture would be perfect if not for the live service feel.
