If these 49 are still Israeli citizens, then they have a choice to: Renounce their Israeli citizenship Serve in the military Go to jail Not defending them, just adding context.

So in other words, you renounce your citizenship.
If you didn’t
If you joined the IDF
If you committed war crimes
Its all on you and you deserve to rot in prison for the rest of your life, don’t care about the “but my orders!!”
Nuremberg Principles apply to Israelis too.
