Sheesh, there’s a Trump-level of understanding of diplomacy around here.

Carney’s response was not “cowering”. It was a carefully-worded rebuke to Trump’s lawlessness written with the understanding that there was nothing good to come of openly antagonizing him. It’s the sort of thing that a grown up adult person who is responsible for the wellbeing of millions would write. I know politicians like that haven’t been making headlines much so we’re all used to the sort of schoolyard bully bloviation that comes out of the Trump administration, but there are politicians out there that aren’t dementia-riddled narcissists so don’t assume it all needs to be like that.
