Like cable TV the writing is on the wall for terrestrial radio that plays music. Eventually the only thing left will be news and talk radio and even that will decline.
A podcast has nothing to do with news radio which updates you all day at the top of the hour. Podcasts are not frequent and aren’t accessible to everyone while driving

The stations being shut down are all either news or sports.
I mean, podcasts exist

Sports, not news.
The stations that were shut down included both sports and news stations.
Regardless, they weren’t making money. Rogers doesn’t get $1B+ of government money like the CBC does to air programming no one listens to.
Many people myself included listen to the CBC and enjoy it. Take this Tiny PP “my taxpayer money” energy elsewhere.
I’m glad to see you enjoy it. Numbers say CBC numbers are declining, and keep declining.
Look at it this way. Would you rather have a taxpayer funded CBC or free high speed internet and mobile phone? That’s how much we are all paying.
