    I am just curious where the line is drawn that makes it less a powderkeg of outrage and starts being worthy of at least an historical acknowledgement in recognition of the victim. If it’s not film adaptations of books, is it once there are musicals based on film adaptations of books written by authors who have expressed offensive viewpoints? Or poems summarizing musicals based on film adaptations of books written by authors who have expressed offending viewpoints?

    I’m trying to be honest and not make this tongue-in-cheek.

      JKR is actively politically involved in the persecution of trans people and the protection of transphobes. Even if she does not directly profit from an individual piece of HP media, the success of any HP media strengthens her brand and thus her political power.

      That’s why it matters. Not an abstract question of “death of the author” or the Ship of Theseus of adaptations of adaptations, but the single contemporary living human being who converts Harry Potter’s cultural cachet into actualized hatred.
