Yeah as someone who has done a lot of workflow automation I think we need to automate out the corner offices. We need frontline workers and maintenance only for fully automated businesses.
But then I am reminded of Stross’s Singularity series, where the characters connect to an alien network as a kind of First Contact and what comes through is alien Business A.I. and is definitely a Boss fight.
Here’s a blog post by Stross from late last year which describes why he thinks CEO’s are adopting it so heavily. A good read.

Like Stross I don’t think LLMs can do the automation needed. I’m curious about a planetary model that builds bespoke complex algorithms for a business, though.
