Someone really, really, really does not like AI datacentres.

Not to worry, in perhaps five years, certainly not more than ten years, these centres will be obsolete and decommissioned. There will be newer, faster, more efficient technologies that will replace them.

The people who are funding these centres are being blindsided by the tech behemoths who are making the hardware. Already these hardware companies are designing the hardware that will replace the current stuff, and another AI provider will build updated datacentres, putting all of these existing centres out of business.

The entire ponzo scheme is entirely based on planned obsolescence, with a complete tech turnover time frame of two years. The tech companies HAVE to leapfrog technology every two years, or they collapse.

The downside of this, is that the faster computers are, the more power they require, and it is now an exponential relationship. In ten years, 60MW will be 6,000MW minimum.

The link is presumably meant to be to this: https://blundervalley.ca/blog/what-flipped-hamiltons-vote/

[some random tech bro] suggested that based on its size, the data centre proposal before the city was unlikely to be an AI data centre, claiming it wouldn’t be economically viable. A quick search of Ontario’s corporate registries determined the owner of the land also runs an AI software company.

AI software companies are not going to hesitate to do a thing just because it’s not economically viable.

See also: Why businesses lie about AI

a situation in which everyone – “boards, executives, employees, vendors, consultants” – has a strong incentive to lie about how much AI is delivering for their companies.

I’d already saved Cory’s post from today to read later xD. What an important voice for these times he is
