    In most cases, you are not legally required to pay for something you break in a store.

    Stores have shrinkage insurance for accidental breakage.

    With that said, a visitor coming into a store, “bumping” into that American bottle, and leaving, can be a very normal experience. A hundred people doing it every day for a week will suddenly make American liquor difficult/impossible to restock because of how accident-prone it is.

      It’s already paid for by the store, then they need to buy more to replace it. All this does is sell more Yank whiskey.
