      Indeed. There’s obviously nuance to apply but there’s so many pro-gun people from the US that sometimes it’s hard to conclude anything else. I interacted with gay Americans from Florida 20 years ago and as “liberal” as they were, they were still pro-gun and telling me, a Québecois living in a small town, that I should also arm myself, in case my government became tyrannical or something. Nowadays I read the comments from Americans on different communities of Lemmy, often from LGBTQ+ communities, mostly all encouraging others to get guns, and it’s hard to see Americans in any other way.

      It’s a good thing that you remind us about this. But surely you understand that even not armed, even if not by protests, there’s other actions citizens can take to oppose their governments, and apologizing to, or virtually standing with the people your government is attacking, is not one of those.
