    Personally would’ve preferred to grant easy PR route rather than citizenship directly. Nevertheless good to see it’s a desirable thing for people, increased mobility would be good for labour too when they decide to come back home. Funds will have to come from somewhere, government can offer expedite service with high fee, or high termed deposit to increase funds to support more workers in this line of service.

    This has also unintentionally put a huge, unprecedented strain on archives and archivists across the country, with people looking for records to prove ancestral citizenship, at a time when the governments (all levels, but especially provincial) have been slashing culture budgets and cutting workers.
