While Rona is a “Canadian” company, it is owned by Sycamore Partners since 2023. An American private equity firm based in New York.

I’m not sure what’s left nationally beyond Home Hardware and Canadian Tire. Regionally and locally there may be some additional options.

Home Hardware stores are not just Canadian, they are locally owned and operated*. You can often literally walk over and ask the owner a question.

          • I hate that I cant use that phrase without sounding like a clanker now.

Princess Auto is Canadian, but more for vehicles.

And then some of your independent hardware stores like Preston in Ottawa.

There is also online Canadian stores instead.

Thankfully the rona near me is a fully independent location that only shares the name, it might not be the only one so it may be worth checking.

      Man duck home depot

let me guess, you’re standing in front of a home depot and are calling out things you see?
