    Exactly, gov’t access isn’t nearly the main problem as a lot of our lives are controlled by private corporations. Besides, the gov’t can buy access to this data from data broker firms.

      @avidamoeba@lemmy.ca

      gov’t access isn’t nearly the main problem …

      It definitely is a main problem, at least in democratic countries. Spying on citizens without reason violates the constitution.

      But China isn’t a democracy but rather a dictatorship. That makes the situation even worse, and privacy isn’t by far the only violation of human rights committed by the government in Beijing as we know.

        People literally telling you in this thread why for them it isn’t. You can ignore them all u want and tell them they’re wrong. Won’t change a thing as that doesn’t stop their car insurance company making their lives more expensive using data collected from American cars.

            Re-read the thread including your own comment. If that doesn’t help. I can’t help you. There are courses in English.

              There are also courses in democracy and critical thinking.

              I stop this conversation now. There’s nothing meaningful to expect.

                I’ve taken quite a few at the university level in Canada. I’m not the one who can’t follow a conversation.

                By all means.
