This actually makes sense. Northwestern Ontario is already in the Central time zone, so failing to follow Manitoba would have left northwestern Ontario a hour behind both Manitoba (in the winter months) and the rest of Ontario (all year round). Not ideal.
As a Saskatchewan resident who does not understand the idocracy of DST I remember looking things up, because I thought it would need to take Ontario to change to get the rest of Canada to follow the Yukon Territory to stop this and be more reasonable like Saskatchewan. My readings found that Ontario would not do it until New York did it and New York was not going to do it until Ontario did it.
Just do the whole fucking province for fuck sake
We already did.
Ontario will do it as soon as New York does it who will do it as soon as Quebec does it who will do it as soon as Ontario does it.

It would also make sense to abolish the time change entirely. Its the half assedness that bothers me
C’mon Dougie!

Which if anything just means it’s a bunch of day trading losers who don’t want an hour difference between the TSX and NYSE.
Fortunately US states are slowly doing it too, of course that sadly means we are stuck waiting for NY to do it.
