How can it not? For most people, it will be a newer and better GTA 5. And that’s all it needs to be. From the looks of it, it seems to even surpass that expectation. Maybe lot of people will be disappointed in the beginning, but only because they don’t know the entire game yet. If this does not turn out to be a Cyberpunk 2077, then based on Rockstars track record, we can expect them to deliver.
Even cyberpunk was eventually good supposedly. I was excited about it but skipped it due to the launch issues and just never got around to actually getting it.
I recently started playing it and I can only recommend it. No bugs or anything on my Ubuntu gaming machine.
The atmosphere is great, the story is fun. The open world could be better (definitely no GTA) and I still haven’t figured out how to install weapon mods being several hours in the game.
I would never recommend preordering games and since I’m not playing multiplayer games anymore I don’t really care about when I get to play a game. I started playing the Outcast remaster via GOG for example because of nostalgia and because I never completed it when I first got it decades ago.
But: apparently they fixed Cyberpunk and it got recommended for me, so it was worth it on a discount.
At launch it was good too. For me. There was no shortage of video evidence of the game going haywire for other folks, but it worked quite well for me. I don’t know what I did differently other than playing on PC. Its bones were good from the start.
The PC was the best version. Not every hardware and software was as much buggy, and maybe you just didn’t do out of the box stuff that would trigger more issues. Just guessing here. It was mostly a catastrophe on the last gen consoles (PS4 and XBOne).
Same experience for me on PC. Seeing all the talk about people’s negative experiences of it at that time was strange and unfortunate when I had only experienced two or three game-crashing bugs that were easily avoided once I found them. I wish or hope that more people had similar experiences to ours and just maybe weren’t as vocal or something. I really enjoyed that game then and still do from time to time
I’m waiting for a few days after release, to check what the real plyers say. Still - if it’s at gta v level without too many bugs, i will buy. Yeah and I’m aware, I’m just renting it for the privilege of playing it this year.
If I find another fun game, I might also wait.
If I want to play it in the future and lose access - I’ll set sail on the high seas.
