Ah, the stuff where, when you thought about asking to stay home sick from school, but then you knew mom would make you take it, it made you honestly ask yourself “How sick am I really…”
Jokes aside, Buckleys is to this day probably the best cough suppressant I know, syrup or cough drops.
Both my partner and I actually like the taste of Buckley’s, maybe it’s a nostalgia thing, the DM stuff works but it also interacts with some meds so definitely talk to a pharmacist. Extra strength fisherman’s friends are my go to cough drop but salt liquorice also works for sore throats.
Semi related as a general precaution, a lot of cold/flu meds have acetaminophen in them, it’s really easy to overdose that if you’re not aware and are taking Tylenol or something at the same time, read the label and talk to the pharmacist.
Yeah, there’s just something about the taste of Camphor Oil and Menthol that feels right when you’re sick. Sure, we might be a little messed up, committing war crimes on our own respiratory tracts to win the war against the common cold, but lots of us actually seem to enjoy it.
