To be clear: The questions were deliberately crafted to drive people to the ‘yes’ vote; and the UCP spent millions of dollars in advertising propaganda telling us which way to vote on the referendum intended to tell them which which way to govern.
That doesn’t excuse the fact that this province is racist (and queer-phobic) as fuck, and getting worse all the time.
Yeah, I agree that no mandate was given considering every media source was blasting ‘yes to the nine’, courtesy of tax payer dollars, and they got less than 60% on anything (to be confirmed). Smith had best have a re-think.
Smith doesn’t need a mandate to fuck over Alberta. It’s fascinating that she didn’t hold a referendum oh publicly funding charter and private schools, or on introducing two-tier for-profit healthcare. No, she just decided that she wanted to flaunt Alberta’s hatred of Ottawa and brown people. Because let’s be honest, anti-immigration sentiment is all about people who look and dress differently. Nobody’s going bat an eyelash at Aussies coming over to work the ski hills, unless they’re pointed to as the “See, I’m not racist” example.
