I still wonder what must have changed, because it used to be just as smooth with whatever Proton version I’ve been using (Proton Hotfix, AFAIR).
The hardware dosen’t seem to be the problem, try using latest protonGE instead of steam version
I just tried the latest version of Proton (11.0-2). It’s exactly as choppy as before (Proton Hotfix).
Usually it’s good but try https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom as well, it has solved a lot of problems for me in the past
