If everything around us is happening on a global scale, and none of it is locally real, then have we already made all our choices? And are we just now trying to understand them?
Block time is fine, you still get to make the decisions you always were going to have, from your perspective.
Remember: It all adds up to normality. Whatever you learn about the world does not make it not the world you have existed in previously
Our current model is that nothing in this universe is “real” the way people think it is, and it all exists in mathematical possibility space, which does not change anything you should expect of your day to day experience.
If you knew, would it change who you are or the decisions you will make?
You just have halo of collapse around you, which radius depend on what speed information can travel in the atmosphere. Globally infinite states are determined all the time, but which ones are entangled with you are selected in the halo of collapse.
Do you know where I might read further about this as a non-expert?
Start with Hugh Everetts multiworld model, quantium entanglement, wave function, double slit experiments -> quantium eraser experiment. Not necessarily in that order.
There are multitude of sources. I’d try well animated videos on the subject. Those things don’t tend to be intuitive.
If it helps calm down your existential crisis, most people behave statistically predictably.
Isn’t that putting the cart before the horse?
Like, I sleep at night, get up and go to work the next day and do the same thing over and over and over. Until I come home and sleep again at night.
Patterns arise from any and everything. Even randomness. You’re claiming that statistically, patterns exist. As opposed to what? Wouldn’t there have to be as much noise, somewhere in the void, as there are patterns within said noise?
Patterns are only significant in context – with meaning.
Like, you shouldn’t run the same path every day while jogging. Why? Because, in the context of security, it makes it easy for someone to mug you.
what makes you think I’m trying to understand them?
No
Yes, except we made all the choices. Not a scientist, just a smart ass.
