I still have my 360 copy. What a game… Like, in the video game sense. So many “this makes no sense” but makes perfect sense in the game moments.
Never thought Dark Messiah would remain in the cultural zeitgeist. Is it now fair to call it a cult classic?
Definitely! I finally got around to playing it last year after my parents wouldn’t buy it for me when it originally came out lol
Dark Messiah’s kick is still one of the best design decisions in an action game: one button plus Source physics turned every ledge, spike rack and barrel into a weapon. Glad a community team is keeping it runnable, because “won’t launch on modern hardware” kills more old games than bad reviews ever did.
Holy fucking shit the devs even mentioned potentially working with the HL2VR people for VR capabilities.
This is my favorite Arkane game and I have not been able to get it to run right on any of my machines for years, I’m so pumped!
That would be so sick. Especially when it works like in SkyrimVr where you actually have to pull an arrow from your quiver
It was a nice game. Scratched that Thief 1-2 feeling to some extent. I would gladly play some fan-made mission set…
I enjoyed
the second onethis game, kicking badguys off cliffs was pretty satisfying.Edit: I was totally mistaken, there is not a sequel for this.
Alkahest is currently in development if you’re looking for a spiritual successor.
Thanks, this looks promising! Last game I played that was even close was Avowed and it didn’t really scratch the same itch.
Second One?
My mistake, there was only one. I think maybe I was conflating it with Heroes of Might and Magic II, which is a totally different type of game (but one of my favorite RTS games)
And here I was hoping that somehow I had missed a second one :D
Maybe one day it will be true!
Meanwhile I’m still here occasionally playing Might and Magic merge mod (classic games, not the new Might and Magic)
