BioWare reportedly shut down because EA bosses chose to invest in the development of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 over Mass Effect 5.

I mean honestly it’s fine because I don’t want to buy anymore EA games anyways. No temptation this way.

Then people wonder why nothing new has come to replace the +50 year old franchises. This whole century is an exercise in monetizing nostalgia; it’s what the lengthening of IP protections paved the way for, and it is sort of stagnating popular culture.

My nostalgia of Star Wars got ruined by the terrible new trilogy movies and terrible tv shows. Sole exception being Andor which was amazing, but definitely an outlier.

I havent given the IP a chance since phantom menace.

I really should, people say some are incredible, but the sparkles gone. It just looks like work to me now.

Andor is great since it feels like a war series that happens to have a Star Wars back drop, but would be a great series on its own too. Covers regular people as opposed to force users doing jedi stuff, so can be enjoyed without the Star Wars baggage. Feels relevant too with it covering facism.

It’s a scifi series much closer to the Expanse than Star Wars.

To be fair, Mass Effect 5 wasn’t exactly going to be an experimental original thing either.

Horrible tradeoff from a gaming standpoint. I’m sure numbers show it’ll be wildly profitable and of course they should have done it. We all know tens of thousands of people will happily buy a battlefront 3 as well.

We had one great Mass Effect trilogy that brought love and hope to so many, I loved it so dear, while I’m sad there won’t be another I’m also so glad we got the trilogy. It’s such a huge part of my life in so many deep personal ways. If that’s the way EA wants to sever my relationship to them, so be it.

      Your comment is really wise.

In a way we got a perfect Mass Effect trilogy with a beginning and an end.

Yes it would be nice to have other stories in the same universe but then you risk lowering our memories of Mass Effect…(I know Andromeda exists but I haven’t played it…)

I used to love Star Wars but Episode IX was so bad I now struggle with the other ones even if I already found the prequels cheesy and disguting with too much CGI…

Agreed. These games brought me to gaming after 15 years hiatus, love the trilogy dearly and have been wanting to fully replay it since I never got to play any of the DLC.

Oh the DLC are phenomenal. Few games get high praise for their DLC but Mass Effect 2 and 3 do. Citadel is the perfect capstone to the trilogy, and if you haven’t played ME3 with Citadel well you are in for a treat
