    I’m confused. If he is convinced he did nothing wrong, why would he need political asylum? Is he not willing to fight for his convictions?

      Optics. He can claim to be a victim of “Canadian oppressors” and try to convince more people that there are “Canadian oppressors”.

      Not everyone with convictions will go to prison for them. That’s not to say he has good ones, the man sucks, but plenty of people have thrown away their lives to protest or to expose their governments then fled to avoid prosecution. It’s a group with folks from Lenin to Snowden
