Canadians avoiding travel to the United States and bans on American alcohol are among the reasons U.S. President Donald Trump called Canada “mean and nasty” to deal with this week, but that rhetoric seems to be strengthening the buy Canadian movement.
I’m aware that our beloved president is fascist. I’m aware that everything I learned about how the government works is not really working. While we aren’t full on fascist yet, the checks and balances that we are supposed to have keep giving in.
I’m very supportive of the 2nd Amendment yet I don’t own a gun. The US is fast approaching the point where I will need to exercise that right to defend my family and my community. We are not there yet, but we keep getting closer. I have secured a promise from my Canadian spouse that we will move to Canada before that happens. We’ll see.
They are the only reason I haven’t started protesting and/or moved away. I usually hate expressing political views offline, in public. We are wellllll past that point now.
Your window to leave might be closing on both sides eh. Our gov’t just passed Bill C-2 which is essentially the Canadian Patriot Act. Canadian Border Patrol Services is also going on a massive hiring spree. The media is framing it as capitulation to Trump. Really it’s preparation for a hostile US admin that will have no qualms about using civilian crossings to affect hybrid warfare against us.
While I expect the public will be more accepting of US refugees than Indian immigrants, the sheer volume of applicants may leave you SOL.
I’m kind of crossing into dick territory here… but the notion that your 2A right to own a pea shooter will matter when ICE has sonic weapons, amoured vehicles, and fucking killer robots is the most Amurican thing behind behind deep fried butter. /s
I do hope everything plays out well for you. But like I fully believe millions of Americans are going to die over the next 10 years. Be safe dude!
Whether or not I die if it comes to defending what’s right is irrelevant to me.
I’d rather die fighting for what’s right than just give up and die.
Maybe it won’t make a difference, but maybe it will and that’s what matters.
Anyway, thank you. Maybe we’ll cross paths in Canada and we won’t even know it
