My bros I met when I was working at KFC about 18 years ago.
One is an extrovert who adopted me because I was sitting and reading alone in the break room on his first day and who is happy to advise me when I struggle.
The other is another introvert who sometimes goes AWOL for weeks or months but I know always has my back in the end and I can tell him anything.
Lately we’ve been trying to get together every month at least for my mental health and it has been amazing.
Somewhat recently (about 9 years ago I think) one of them gained a partner who’s been an amazing addition to our little found family.
All of us have abusive parents, so we’re all each other’s family.
JayJLeas@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Have you or anyone you know caught an undiagnosable illness?3·1 month agoMy dad has had flu-like symptoms ending in a lingering cough that went away for about a week before coming back with a vengeance. He finally got diagnosed last week, parainfluenza RNA. Maybe look into that? Lot of people been sick with something flu-like lately.
He’s also not contagious and the doctor only gave him an asthma puffer because he was having trouble breathing recently but mostly he’s just been taking cough mixture to reduce the symptoms.

Try to get away from my abusive parents.
Do certain things to meet my best friends earlier and convince them.
Stand up for myself more.
Spend more time with my grandparents.I’ve thought about it a lot
JayJLeas@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's that book or story you vaguely remember reading but forgot the title of and can't find it anywhere anymore?3·3 months agoIt was about a futuristic world where the world and technology were intertwined and people would change how they looked, often becoming part animal or whatever, but then the technology goes down (I forget how) and everyone has to adapt to the real world and learn to live in it again
Donkey Kong Game & Watch (1982)

I played Blue Prince for a long time, currently taking a break because it’s incredibly mentally taxing.
Been playing the Iron Oath a lot lately. It’s a tactics game with permadeath and feels D&D inspired, it has a few issues but nothing game-breaking.
Board games, I’m always playing Betrayal at House on the Hill, but we also tried Call to Adventure recently and that was pretty fun, would like to give it another go and get the hang of it.
