Just want to drop this here in case it helps someone else out, better late than never. Gore-tex is my go to for anything waterproof since few years ago. I have yet to discover Canadian brands with gore-tex, do check out Rab gore-tex jackets if you’re interested, definitely functional with lots of pockets. Our Khroma converge gore-tex jacket holds out well under cold winds and heavy rains
