Canada@lemmy.ca•Conservative Party faces significant financial loss after convention voting devices go missing
12·2 months agoI read the article and I didn’t think it was a plot, I just thought they were assholes to take everything that isn’t nailed down.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Surrey extortion victim being investigated for allegedly returning fire during shooting
1·3 months agoEverything you say is true but you dismissed my point in your first sentence. A Canadian jury will not convict you for returning fire when you are under fire. The Crown will tell you that you can’t have a jury but you can and should demand one.
Having said that, returning fire would be my last choice. My first choice would be to not be under fire in the first place. If you come to my house and start shooting at and are not gone in how long it takes me to retrieve and load my gun while calling 911 you are going to receive effective return fire and you are going to have a bad day.

5·3 months agoThat’s how I read it. Uneducated and no real experience of the world makes you an easy target of grievance manipulation.

4·3 months agoThere was a time when conservative speech didn’t mean lies, hate speech, and misinformation.

171·3 months agoYou mean hate speech. Yes, anyone who whinges about us not having free speech is talking about hate speech and they should be shipped off to the US.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Carney reaches tariff-quota deal with China on EVs, canola
7·3 months agoI saw this in my feed this morning.
Who the fuck cares whether the orange Nobel participation medal claiming pedofascist approves or not? The US wasn’t involved in this. The US doesn’t get a say in this.
North American auto makers capitulated to the oil oligarchs and MAGA ideologues and stopped producing EVs so Canada might as well have access to cheaper Chinese EVs instead.
And, our canola farmers get to sell their products in to China.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canadians crossing U.S. land borders will now be photographed | National
12·4 months agoAh, the classic childish gotcha!
I had more than 150 flights in 2019, more than 20 in the first two months of 2020, then the pandemic hit and I didn’t fly for 750 days. When the pandemic restrictions eased my company asked me to go back on the road but I refused. I’m senior enough and valuable enough that I can do that. Now, I chose when I travel and I chose not to travel to the US at all except for SKO which I have to attend.
I’m don’t feel any need to “justify” myself to anyone. I’m trying to help you to understand that other people may have different lived experiences and different responsibilities than you do and that some people’s worlds are bigger than yours and don’t allow them to live in black and white.
I hope this helps.

22·4 months agoDo you think that the US didn’t photograph you dozens of times every time you crossed the border? Do you think that the airlines and Canadian government don’t share information about you when you travel? Do you think they don’t monitor your phone calls? Do you think they don’t monitor your social media?
I’ve working in nation state level information security for 15 years and boy, do I have news for you.

23·4 months agoNexus routinely saves me more than an hour at the airport and TSA Pre does the same in the US. I had more than 150 flights in 2019, a third to the US and half international and Nexus saved me a lot of time and hassle. My world may just be bigger than yours so Nexus has a much bigger impact for me than it would for you.

43·4 months agoYes, being gainfully employed by the Canadian subsidiary of US company that requires me to travel to the US once a year does colour my perspective but by all means go on fighting the good fight.

59·4 months agoIf you think they haven’t had their fist in your ass for years I have to question the tightness of your asshole. All they’re doing now is telling you that they have their fist in your ass to get a rise out of you and you’re giving them what they want. MAGA has a hardon for cruelty. I’m suggesting that you look them straight in the eye and say, “Mmmmm, daddy!”

513·4 months agoI have a Nexus card. They have my complete background, finger prints, iris scans, and facial biometrics. Who fucking cares? It’s just a pedofascist flex. Just yawn at them. It will drive them crazy that you’re not bothered.
