I consider anyone who supports these things to be an evil asshole who shouldn’t be allowed within ten miles of authority. That does include most LPC MPs and especially Carney, yes. Why do you ask?

I mean, the CPC in general for scapegoating immigrants, supporting Israel, ignoring climate change and anti-worker pro-rich policies? It’s basic conservative stuff, and it pretty much universally makes the non-1% world a worse place to live.

Even if we disagree with the stance of the opposition, we should want them to be at minimum, logical, representative of the principles of the people who cast votes for them, and an effective check on the government.
Being competent is only good when one is not evil (which rightwing politicians are almost by definition). Also there’s no relation between being competent and representing the people who voted for them, and only acting as a check on the government when it tries to do something good is worse than not doing so at all. An effective opposition not acting in the interest of the people just becomes a ratchet holding back progress.

Careful not to get too attached to the “late stage” part. Odds are the system will burn everything to the ground and save itself a la WWI/II.

First they came for…

I wanted to cuss at him, but in this case there’s no insult better than the truth: Fucking banker.

I guess it’s hard to just say “because we’re a vassal state with an addiction to fascist dick.”

Carney is now making damn sure that Canada’s next PM is going to be Trump lite, so it is going to be a lot worse.

US allies (including Europe, but relevantly to this comm Canada) for pretending they care about international law yet going along with every instance of blatantly illegal and amoral US imperialism. Most recently, Carney is backing US strikes against Iran “with regret.”

Saying he supports the war but he’s kinda sad about it definitely counts.

Yes and I wonder whose fucking fault that is. Hint: It’s not only America.

99% of the time I’d agree with you, but Canada is close enough to Cuba that I can see it happening.

but these numbers should give people massive pause at what the alternative looks like.
If you think anything Carney is doing is avoiding “the alternative” I have an America to sell you.
It’s wild to me that with as centrist as Carney’s been, he’s barely pulled any of the actual conservative vote to him.
That’s because centrist liberals don’t, in fact, pull conservatives; I mean how would they? Centrists affirm that conservatives are right, and if you’re right and have someone who represents you fully why would you settle for half measures? It’s leftists who pull conservatives, because they actually present new/“new” solutions to people’s problems.
TLDR: Between three parties that promise to kill all Jews, kill half of all Jews and implement minimum wage respectively, someone who believes the solution to their poverty is to kill all Jews is going to vote for either 1 or 3, but never 2.

Science has yet to uncover what it is about Trump that makes liberal politicians so weak in the knees.

I won’t pretend to know your circumstances, but usually overthrowing dictators requires you to break the law. The work to make that possible starts now.

There are a lot more ways to track people,
Fair enough.
Back then there weren’t a system designed to prevent and punish striking.
There was, we call it Pinkerton, among others. At least now you can organize out in the open.
then there will be fights against private militias and the government again.
There’s no nonviolent class conflict (which is what this needs to be), but the magnitude of the violence will increase exponentially with time as the fascists consolidate power.
Not in America at least, which is a problem given that America is the single biggest market in the world.
