Canada@lemmy.ca•Israeli group sues Canadian human rights museum over 'Nakba' exhibit
10·2 days agoPeople the Zionists* don’t like. Plenty of Christian Evangelicals also using it because they want the end of times to come about.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada expands sanctions against Russia over abduction of Ukrainian children
2·6 days agoSure, I agree with that rephrasing. If your only measure is whether violence would break out, then sure. Russia is more likely to go to war with Canada over the arctic territores than Israel.
But considering that the reports put Israel high up there with external interference, then, yes, i wouldn’t use “friendly” terminology with a genocidal supremacist state that supports rightwing politicians in our neighboring country during elections. Definitely more detrimental than a bunch of hick truckers not liking masks.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada expands sanctions against Russia over abduction of Ukrainian children
4·6 days agoTo use your argument, it’s not an “either” argument of “more of an ally”. Israel is not an ally to Canada and never was - let’s not excuse or normalize double standards.
Canadian security agencies literally flag it as 1 of 6 countries (amongst Russia, China, India) trying to meddle in Canadian affairs and push disinformation.
Literally published by Israeli journalists too (Haaretz): https://archive.ph/DBpdE
primarily aimed at Black lawmakers and young progressives in the United States and Canada

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canada Building EV Data Protection Rules Amid Chinese Car Surveillance Fears
26·8 days agoIt’s funny how once China is involved, the Government all of a sudden cares about consumer privacy and data protection.
All modern vehicles collect a ton of telemetry through their telemetry units and these companies are being advised by consulting groups to monetize the data.
Hell! Even Israeli intelligence is hacking into these telemetry units because their security is piss poor
But, yeah, now it’s a problem when China might have a backdoor.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Despite strained ties, U.S. senator says Canada should be cautious of making deals with China
4·8 days agoThe US definitely is! Maybe not sending members of Congress as far as I know, but fully supporting separatists. That’s why I asked OP if they accept it, since they seem to be up in arms about China pulling a stink about Canada doing the same with Taiwan.

3·8 days agoLOL! And here I thought Lemmy was like old reddit. But reactionaries is the new norm online I guess. Nobody needs your bad vibes dude, glad there’s a block option.

4·8 days agoHahaha I don’t care about the Star, just the story because it hasn’t been reported on and it’s as important as ever. Whitewashing with true stories is a common tactic used by the media, we all know that.
It’s ok bud, not everything is psy-op. This is Lemmy, not Reddit.
Unless you just want to angrily wave your fist at clouds…

Canada@lemmy.ca•They came to Canada for steady work. They didn't realize they were victims of labour trafficking
3·8 days agoIt happens in so many counties where migrant workers are taken advantage of and scapegoated simultaneously, while employers and government policies are rarely ever criticized as the cause.
Not sure why people would rather blame someone simply for trying to improve their material conditions than the actual institutions taking advantage of them.

Canada@lemmy.ca•They came to Canada for steady work. They didn't realize they were victims of labour trafficking
41·8 days agoI’m not a fan of The Star’s owners - and a quite a few of their journalists/editors - either, but they have most recently reported on the exploitation of migrant workers in Canada that’s been documented for several years.

I think it’s more about draining the resources of a museum with costly litigation, which is the typical MO.
One of the most prominent witnesses in the ICC Genocide case against Israel is a British Palestinian doctor who only recently won a 2 year long litigation battle against “UK lawyers for Israel” in January, which UKLFI is trying to reopen again this past March - each legal battle costs him about £150,000, not to mention time and money from his actual job of being a doctor.
