Synology ds cam plus a whole lot of Chinese HIK vision Poe cameras. Some inside some outside. The whole thing coupled with HA. It’s been working for years now so no complaint. The one time a camera died on me the vendor replaced it free of charge which I appreciated.

1·3 months agoIt should for sure strive to find additional partners to reduce as much as possible those dependencies as well. Also the immediateness of distribution interruptions in sourcing CPU isn’t comparable to cutting critical services in the cloud. The later being instantaneous while the former has a long time to impact.
You apply balance within the framework that allows you to be more resilient. Not in absolute.
We are talking about a country, not your local SMB.

41·8 months agoAbsolutely « whatever ». I became quite cynical after working for a while in telco / intelligence / data and AI. The small addition of a few pic is just adding few contextual clues to what they have already.

491·8 months agoI’m piping my in house camera to Gemini. Funny how it comments our daily lives. I should turn the best of in a book or something.


How does that compares with a ds220+ on electricity consumption ? Would it be relatively similar ? The specs are way better so it would be appealing but not if it doubles the maintenance costs.
