Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something you can see, hear, smell, etc., that others can't?
3·5 months agoMold, or at least some types of mold. Used to smell it on food but other people couldn’t, so just assumed it was something else. But did the experiment by putting things in their own containers and leaving them out for a while, while probably not the best sample size, the muffins that smelled like mold eventually visibly showed it.

3·7 months agoFriendly reminder that not everything needs to be funneled through the lens of the geopolitical, capitalist, and technological quagmire of our times. People need things to live for, to dream for, to imagine. Even people who are fighting everyday for a better world need some time doing recreation. If it is the requirement of utopia to give up on frivolous yet joyful endeavors then what do you strive for?

72·9 months agoNot to mention it was a rag tag game dev studio who through that hype had their dream come true, did they’re best to deliver it, and have continued to work on it for over a decade now. People are human; and they’ve more than shown it wasn’t ever intended as a grift.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is something you never understood the hype for?
101·10 months agoI think this might be a potential disconnected between rural and urban folks. A lot of trucks are big and stupid; and unsafe. But an old style reasonable pick up doesn’t need a CDL. It’s very useful for moving things that you don’t want to mess up your interior. During the summer my family takes one with a small motorcycle and inflatable kayaks to raft rivers in Colorado; quite useful. But I get it in the cities; even our reasonable sized sedan felt big having the parallel park when I’ve visited them.

7·10 months agoI have an i7-2600 prebuilt for my NAS— is idle most of the time, bought it for $100 4 years ago. Have pretty cheap power at like $0.12 per KWh, but again mostly idle so probably doesn’t cost much anyway.
Well I just graduated and it took 5 1/2 years, granted I took a year off for covid, but I think I’m doing fine, plus if my experience is anything to go by when your slightly older you take things more seriously which can be beneficial— don’t sweat it!
I promise my journal really isn’t that interesting
