A long lens is not very subtle, though.
Not helpful with the “avoiding getting attacked by steroid fuelled nazis” goal.

When you’re taking pictures of nazis and trying not to have them attack you, taking those pictures from a distance and in a discrete manner can lead to less than studio quality photography.

assuming this is his last run in with the law
Given his history, that assumption seems a bit like wishful thinking.
But maybe if there is some proper resources made available and if he sincerely takes advantage of them, he might have a chance of rehabilitation.

As long as the proper resources are made available to respond to those calls for help.
The party needs to reform itself.
The party needs to un-reform itself.
Not that old-school Tories were awesome, but the party became so much worse when they merged with the dregs of Manning’s reform party.

I imagine it’s also a card that’s used in the negotiations with the US.
I have no doubt that it is.
A smart negotiator doesn’t play all their cards at the start. They gradually bring out their various pressure points over time when it is strategic to do so. And they hold back the “nuclear option” until it becomes necessary.

On one hand, if companies are going to be using AI, better that it’s on-shore than in the US or other hostile countries.
On the other hand, fuck AI slop in general.

That makes companies find the most efficient ways to reduce their footprints, rather than the government mandating it for each group. This is the approach favoured by most serious economists
And it is the approach Carney favored in his book (which was written several years before he decided to run for office)

or switch to electric vehicles that are cheaper to run
That would require the cooperation of the vehicle manufacturers to actually have a variety of models available across all price points and use cases.
And to have them actually in stock for people to buy.

Which only works if the post office management can keep the place working properly and not constantly antagonize the workers.

Before the Trudeau hate train gains too much speed, how would any of the other parties stated policies have compared?
I haven’t seen a lot of policy statements from the opposition parties on data sovereignty (beyond language about it being a generally good idea).

Most new drugs aren’t covered instantly after they are approved for use.
Like most burocracies it always takes time for the provinces to update their formulary.

It’s not about controlling him, it’s about keeping him pacified and distracted while you work on other things that get you out of the same room as him.

I would have just expected to read about specific sacrifices after reading the headline
This is mostly another pre-budget statement to try and reduce the level of shocked surprise when we see the actual budget.

schools mostly public except for a few private ones?
About those exceptions…
Public money shouldn’t be going to private schools.
If you want your kid to be in some elitist private school, you should pay the entire cost. Otherwise the public system is always an option.
Diverting public funds away from the public education system just weakens the public system.

There is a difference between “planning it to run for months” and “placing the order for months of advertising in advance”.
Having worked in broadcasting, I can confidently say it is common for an ad buy to be modified multiple times during its run.
And the advertiser often doesn’t order the entire run up-front. They will schedule it a week or 2 at a time and adjust based on what results they are seeing.

I don’t want trade with the US
Most Canadians agree
But, because of how entwined our economies have become since WW1 (or earlier), it’s not something that can be undone instantly.

there’s so much misinformation among conservatives… They’re obviously going for the headlines, and low information voters.
As is tradition.

Disappointed that it’s necessary to do.
But when you’re forced to deal with a toddler carrying a live grenade, like it or not, you have to make some soothing noises once in a while.
Not going to the US isn’t the same as just staying home.
We have lots of other places we can choose to go.
