Despite the Americans frequent claim to be the world’s police, they arent the only ones enforcing the embargo.

Other countries have navies and have detained Russian ships as well.

Russian shipping is still under international embargo, isn’t it?

And at the same time I am disgusted that this much effort is needed to protect what should be basic human rights and dignity.

And even if they did know, they wouldn’t acknowledge it.

We should be trying to turn up the pressure slowly, and make sure that Americans keep turning against Trump rather than starting to see Canadians as the enemy

Absolutely. We need to appear to the world (and any sane Americans who remain) as the party in this dispute who is not the aggressor.

We need to react firmly but calmly, and in a reasonable manner.

Canada should do the same.

Most provinces have already done that.

And predictably, the Americans have whined no fair and called it a “trade irritant”.

Other than a couple of loss leaders (in very limited first come, first served quantities), most things are at a similar sale price that you can find other times of the year if you are patient.

They take pictures of planes and keep a scorecard of the ones they have seen.
