It’s devastating. And as bad as it is for my own trans family, Indigenous folks are in for even worse, nevermind the intersection of the two. 😭 I’ve been SO ANGRY at Eby and was braced for a Conservative majority, but not one this large. I don’t know what to do from here. I was already just barely holding myself together.
The update comes on the heels of NDP Leader David Eby saying Doerkson is “going into hiding” during the final days of the campaign—holding pricey private fundraisers instead of opening himself up to questions from the media.
“Never interrupt your opponent when he’s making a mistake”, as the advice goes, and David Eby has done nothing but make mistakes. As a trans person, I’m so furious at him for calling this cynical power-grab election which even at the outset carried a significant chance of the NDP losing.
I desperately hope for an NDP minority government propped up by several Green MLAs and for David Eby to lose his own seat. But it doesn’t look likely. Le sigh.
I wish that were true, but the current count has BC Cons ahead by nearly 200,000 votes. 😢
