Canada@lemmy.ca•Is Danielle Smith the Most Powerful Politician in Canada? | The Walrus
18·6 hours agoNo. She is a sycophant to a foreign power. If we weren’t so far removed in time from WWII then this would be an egregious offensive action to all. Now most citizens have nothing more to do than to hustle and sniff around for cash.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Opinion: The quiet militarization of Canadian AI | BetaKit
21·2 days agoI can’t wait until they develop artificial intelligence. Right now it is just throwing meaningless words around and travelling a dystopic path in terms of “hunches” where this “AI” may lead. Intelligence implies sentience.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Social media ban for kids under consideration in online harms bill: Carney
3·2 days agoSo, government cannot regulate business anymore? Does nationalism mean anything or are we already in a global obedience phase? Rather than getting rid of the offensive nature of social media they want the kids to pluck their eyes out? I do agree with a social media ban for kids I’m just a bit non-plussed at the cattle chutes we are being forced into.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Media Shrugs As Canada’s Allies Slaughter Iranian Children
4·2 days agoBased on what has been spoon-fed to us over the last decade or so I see the media as a tool that extends the divisiveness, especially now that journalism is no longer a respected and honourable position and is used more as a “social engineering” tool. Fuck all media until a truthful one rises from the ashes. It makes sense I guess. The billionaire class are buying and trading media shit until it is all completely under their thumb. Kids…ditch the lemonade stand and publish hard copy news for the neighbourhood! Save us! /s Also, don’t look too closely at “advertising” as you may not like what you find.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Canadians are drinking less, driving the biggest drop in alcohol sales in 20 years: StatsCan
19·2 days agoCapitalism, at this very late stage, is pricing everybody out of everything. Those rich guys ain’t so smart if this is the plan they chose.
I think it is a good idea as long as a general national academic path is followed so the learning we are doing has the basic fundamentals. Socialization needs to occur as well so home-schooling should be offset by community events to get those tykes used to the social messes that can be created and how to handle them stoically.

Canada@lemmy.ca•The myth of homeownership as an investment is wreaking untold damage
4·7 days agoI just deal in gut feelings and hunches. Sorry, no numbers for you.
What isn’t getting more expensive? Do your worst, governments. That mainly affects the rich, the business class and the upper middle class, most of the rest cannot afford travel anyway.
