Games@lemmy.world•After Apple originally announced the first version of Halo in 1999, Xbox apparently called Bungie and said "'Steve Jobs can't have that. We're going to buy you.'"English
1·2 months agoThank you for the very detailed explanation. That really clears it up for me.
Mostly I only play games on my Mac that are available for Mac, with one or two exceptions. I used whiskey for one of them.

3·2 months agomacOS we had Whisky, but the guy threw in the towel when he realised another company was making a commercial product out of it, he didn’t want to take away from the work they were doing.
I misunderstood what happened with whiskey, I thought he was making a free version of a paid product.
What is an alis?
I remember when it was on kickstarter. I went back and forth about backing, I ended up pulling my pledge just before it was funded. So glad I did.

Some of the stuff with the conjoined twins. And how they talk about Trixie.

2·2 months agoI loaded it onto my Steam Deck not too long ago and my 19 year old son had a blast watching me play it. A few of the jokes did not age well, but over all it is amazing still.

171·2 months agoThe first guide i know i got from GameFAQs was Star Wars Masters of Teräs Käsi, which came out in '97. I may have used it before that.
I also had printed out game guides (on the supersede white and green paper) in the early 80s.

5·3 months agoEven if you are in need you can still help. I volunteer at a food bank every Wednesday. It is ~2 hours of my time. I also am able to take about as much food with me as I can carry. Most of the food I take I then give away to the unhoused that live in and around the park across the street from work.
I used to volunteer at a church doing food bank stuff too.
There are plenty of things you can do while you are the one in need.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People whose parents have become fascist, how are you dealing with it?
341·3 months agoI have not spoken with my fascist father in 11 months. Before that I spent years trying to reverse the brain washing. My mother moved out in 2021 because of his trump isolation. He told me that was the worst day of his life, I said if only there was a way to change that. He thought I meant make my mom become a fascist too.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•I pulled my chud brother-in-law for the family Secret Santa. What should I get him?
28·4 months ago
Chud is a slang term used online to refer to people who are considered far from socially normal and unpleasant to be around. The term, undergoing slight changes in its meaning over the decades, has maintained its usage as an offensive and negatively connotated word. Starting in 2020, the term spawned the Chudjak, Avatar Chud, and GigaChud memes as it was increasingly connected with the alt-right.
