Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•was middle school mostly good or bad for you?
1·3 days agoIt has had its memories. But, whenever I’m asked if I had any fond memories from my childhood, I leap to teenager years and high school. Because they were infinitely better.
My middle school years was filled with tons of humiliation, tons of setbacks, tons of embarrassing moments and nothing about it I’ve ever looked back on and was proud about. I was so hateful of my middle school years, I shredded all of my report cards. Not that they’d mean anything, but they reflected upon things about myself then and where everything was at the time. Sure I was a kid who did kid things, but I wasn’t considered a normal kid and I didn’t get to live a normal kid life.

Games@lemmy.world•Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period
5·3 days agoI haven’t bought it because the games I would’ve wanted to play on the Switch - still would work fine on the Switch. I don’t feel the need or see the need to jump to Switch 2. I haven’t even gotten a Switch for myself yet but I want one someday for Super Mario RPG.
Nintendo is just, fucking backwards in how they do business these days.

Games@lemmy.world•Xbox 360 superfan amasses all 1,353 North American discs after two‑decade collection spree
26·5 days agoAnd will not have the time to play them all.
People underestimate the numbers of games released. They see 1,353 and may see that as a challenge. But every game you play is going to amass into hours and hours per game. Moreso once you get into the RPG ones.
I remembered the Pokemon Stadium one.
These sites were so creative.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone else hate how everyone is trying to make money all the time?
4·6 days agoIf anyone ever tried doing that to me, I would just ruin their video. I would be like “hey yeah, this guy is actually a pedophile” or something then just ruin it. I will not be someone’s object to make money from in that sense. Not unless I’m getting paid.
I would rather be doing a job I don’t like because I know I’m not going to fall in love with it enough to make it my life, than to turn something I’ve fallen in love in doing and making it a job I’ll eventually grow to hate because it is seen as a job.
No I was hoping for the dinosaur browser game.
Wow, how predictable, the game everyone has waited on for so long is GOTY.
I just roll my eyes at all of the winners while making a cock-jerking motion with my hand to symbolize the circle jerking the Steam community gets off on.

Games@lemmy.world•Video games where you get to kill US soldiers
2·10 days agoYou’re probably best finding RTS games where you are in the roles of maybe rulers and whatnot that oppose US military? it’s all I can think of.
I don’t know what I can tell you.
I’m one of those patient gamers, where I’m just happy I finally have a machine that can play about 89% of the games I have to throw at it. Moreso happier that it can confidently run PS2 emulation, something I’ve been chasing for years to have a machine that can do, to own anyways.
I think you just need to sit down and contemplate to yourself what you want out of a machine. It’s not a good healthy mindset to be fretting about upgrading all of the time. I mean, you made a huge leap already going from 15 years to what you have now.
Also consider that, there will still be games released that look graphically demanding and everything, but will require maybe a 1060 GPU, just as an example. Probably 8GB of RAM. It’s only the AAA stuff that wants everything to be tip-top shape. Don’t chase those.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What have you tried to get away with, but couldn't?
6·10 days agoThere had been a couple times where I’d be shopping and Wal-Mart’s alert system at the door couldn’t catch the smaller items. Like, they’re honest mistakes too, not intentional. I would make it out to my vehicle, getting the bags in, until I find one object that went by undetected. Thought about just playing it as a mistake and not paying for it.
Problem was, even if I did that, eventually I’d be confronted about it. I work for the company, they know me, they sure as hell probably seen me on camera throwing in that small object at somepoint and will use that. Just because the guy at the booth by the doors isn’t saying or doing anything or the store isn’t getting a hunch, doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking it.
Anytime this has happened though, I have walked back in and paid for that thing. But sometimes even when I know I scanned everything and paid for them, faulty alarms go off anyways so it’s like they’re bipolar.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How might political bias affect the future of AI-generated content?
2·11 days agoPeople are already manipulating historical figures in what they say, to make them aligned with whatever ideals and beliefs one has politically in modern times.
Once AI generation is advanced enough to actually manipulate video from historical periods, people are going to do that too. They’ll probably try making Hitler seem friendlier.
Whatever baffling bullshit scheme people have.
Politics:
- Democrats take back House, Republicans barely cling to Senate.
- Donald Trump dies at somepoint
- Republicans start seeing losses in other fields of political power, but rural counties will still place faith in them.
- Vladimir Putin starts considering nuclear weapons as a last resort to bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
- China starts making moves to Taiwan
Celebrity Deaths:
- Rob Halford passes away
- Keith Richards passes away
Sports:
- Jacksonville Jaguars gets their first Super Bowl
- Oklahoma City Thunder are NBA Finals Champions
- Either Seattle Mariners or Toronto Blue Jays finally get the job done for a World Series

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•(cant find the aita community) am i a bad person for saying "women" instead of "people who can get pregnant"?
14·11 days agoIf you’re looking for support, that’s breaking Rule 3.
And no, it’s not for “no reason”
This is not Reddit. This is not AITA which Reddit used to be plagued by and people over there treated every subreddit as. This question offers nothing open-ended. This user is just looking for validation and therefore breaks Rule 3.
Cry me a river. Rules exist for a reason. Learn to read or shove off.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•(cant find the aita community) am i a bad person for saying "women" instead of "people who can get pregnant"?
316·12 days agoFirst off, this is not Reddit, so stop trying to turn it into one with these kinds of posts.
Secondly, I reported your post for violating Rule 3 which seems to be the norm I guess. Because you’re looking for support.
Next time know where you are and read the rules.
Not really. I like fireworks. The only problem is, people firing them off in places where they would otherwise get penalized for. Like we’re not allowed to have fireworks/sparklers of any kind on the apartment premises. Yet that didn’t seem to stop a few idiots who fire them off thinking they’re living in homes and the cars that could get hit or be set on fire should things go wrong, exist.

Games@lemmy.world•The 10 most anticipated video games of 2026
31·12 days agoI am interested in zero of these. Now granted, The Guardian is already on my nerves because of how devoid of actual intellectual writing for their articles are. There is obviously going to be way more games out there that are worth playing.

Games@lemmy.world•Star Citizen is on course to reach $1 billion in player funding in 2026, and we still might not get to play its singleplayer campaign next year
22·15 days agoHint: It won’t ever be 100%
Any and all time I hear of this ‘game’, I can’t help but think that it is a scam. It is perhaps the most decorated and sugar-coated of scams to ever exist. Simply because they’re saying ‘yeah you can kindof play it’ and that alone, is their cover-all excuse. It wasn’t too long ago that they invested in some very expensive office and they proclaimed that they needed it to help further development or whatever bullshit reason they stated it was for.
But yeah they can just do whatever they want and fools will still throw down their money, even though they probably will almost never know where all of it will go to. I won’t be surprised if some of the money is making one guy rich. I wouldn’t be surprised if the money is used to funnel some political campaign. Something. We won’t ever know, but because this project is technically playable, they just throw up their arms being like “what? it’s still developing! we just need more time and money!”.
It is projects like Star Citizen, that has made me have an extremely soured perspective with early access projects. One other game that came to mind was 7 Days to Die, I remember getting that through Humble Monthly. At that time, the game was like 5 years in development and was still in the alpha stages.
It went through numerous changes, both unnecessary and unneeded while progressing. But the years kept piling up. I think it is now fully released but it still doesn’t look 100%. It just lacked what direction it really wanted to go and even then I thought that project was grifting people who bothered supporting it.
