If you mean the apps you run on the servers, many can use an OAUTH server that you then host for SSO.

Agree, this is exactly what I went with recently in the same situation.

All services are dockerized, updated nightly.

Server OS runs a kernel-patch service for real time exploit patching.

All other updates as soon as they appear.

Yeah, sometimes I’ll need to go in a repair - but that’s way better than having to clean up after having been exploited due to not keeping up on security patches.

Ah ok, yeah. I expect there to be SteamOS/Bazzite boxes you can just purchase.

I find SteamOS to be as un-complicated as any other modern console tbh.

Hate to agree but yeah. We’re buying everything for Steam now since we put a Steambox (Bazzite) in the gaming room. The PS5s are now just legacy boxes.

It’s been ~35 years since I cracked games but we most certainly did everything “for free” back then (or, “for bragging rights” as it were).

I seriously doubt things are that much different now. I’d wager you’re one step removed from “the scene” and only seeing shady repacks from scammers.

On the contrary, we should normalize the concept of the greater family again. Having grandparents help with our young kids solves a lot of modern issues for a family where both parents work, and I will of course do everything to aid my elderly parents as they now age.

IIRC when Tramiel bought Atari their vision was all about the 16/32 bit computers but did quite a few things to bring in cash based on the existing Atari designs - and chips. That’s the Atari 65 and 130XE too just being rehashes of older 8 bit Bushnell computers.

Secureboot doesn’t “fuck with Linux”. It does protect you from malware trying to install unsigned kernel modules.

Apparently that driver is unsigned, which is not the normal case nowadays.
