I saw a whole family get in one! The dad looked like he had dreams of being in the military but either got rejected or never tried. The wife looked mostly plastic. And the two boys had what looked like very expensive remote control cars.

Darn, I just bought it on Steam. Well I can probably de-Steam it.

Games@lemmy.world•I Bought a “Junk” PSP From Japan: Here’s How It WentEnglish
5·2 months agoI still have my PSP 1000. I bought it from a pawn shop with my very first pay cheque. Bricked it with an official update. Maybe salvageable, I’m a lot better at tinkering than I was back then, but my wife’s 2000 is modded and probably still working fine.

11·3 months agoVery fond memories of this game but it’s been so long I’m not sure it holds up. I know I’ve changed, I don’t really play shooters anymore.

1·4 months agoI had a GBA and DS growing up but a used PSP was my very first purchase with my first day cheque. The idea of playing PS1 games on the go still seemed so revolutionary to me. What a fun little device to tinker with.
Neat! I’ve signed up!

4·5 months agoI thought about GameHub when having trouble with Winlator. Read an article titled something like “I installed GameHub so you don’t have to.” Happy to hear there’s a less intrusive alternative!
I have the GameSir X2 Pro and I love it. It doesn’t fit your criteria as it doesn’t fold into pocket size but maybe this is a recommendation for the brand?
I’m pretty sure I own it in on four different storefronts and I’ve never paid for it. It’s a lot of fun but I stopped playing before I got to fly. I don’t remember why.

8·8 months agoThat’s adorable, and I’m about to click that link but I’m willing to bet the similarity to the word “cassette” is not a coincidence.
Yeah I was right!
I second Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance 1 and 2, and would also like to mention Champions of Norrath and Champions: Return to Arms for really similar PS2 games.

I’ve played the first five Civ games and I have fond memories of buying units with diplomats! There’s also FreeCiv which is an open source project that’s very similar to Civ2 but probably supports modern hardware better. It’s been built for android but from what I understand they’re built by third parties so if you’re tech savvy or feeling adventurous you could build it yourself. I played it many years ago in a really rough state where nothing was explained and my own knowledge of Civ 2 was the only thing that made it playable but from what I have heard it’s much better now.
Fun fact, Civ1 was ported to the SNES and Civ2 was ported to the PlayStation.
