Games@lemmy.world•What is your favourite gaming console you have played?English
2·2 months agoConsole-wise it’s the PS1.
I grew up a Nintendo kid but the PS1 was the first console I bought with my own money, bought and installed a mod chip myself, and played everything I could get my smelly teen hands on. That library of burned discs was a huge influence on my gaming tastes and is packed full of nostalgia for me.
spoiler
SNES ALttP is still the best game ever made though.
Sea of Stars is excellent. If you’re experienced with JRPGs it’s not going to be super difficult and if you’re not it has a great selection of difficulty options that you’ll unlock as you play.

Games@lemmy.world•What is a game that you know is bad but really enjoy(ed)?English
2·2 months ago“April fool motherfucker.”
The lines in that game are truly something else. It’s really not a good game at all but I think that credits song makes up for a lot of it.

Games@lemmy.world•Sony Pulls Back From PlayStation Games on PCEnglish
6·5 months agoMost recent word was Miyazaki is interested in a remake but wants From to do it themselves. From is always busy enough with new stuff that they don’t have the bandwidth to take it. Sony respects this and so it sits.
Bluepoint pitched a Bloodborne remake, but FromSoftware turned it down, not Sony
Now, a new report by Bloomberg claims that Bluepoint did, in fact, approach FromSoft in early 2025, pitching a remake of the 2015 game. It’s said that “the studio was told that the numbers made sense, but FromSoftware didn’t want it to happen”.
Interestingly, former president of Sony Interactive Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida posited the same this time last year, saying: "Bloodborne is one of the most popular asks on my Twitter/X. And the people wonder why we haven’t really done anything… it should be easy, right?
“Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne, what he created. So I think he is interested but he’s so successful and he’s so busy, so he cannot do it himself, and he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it.”

4·6 months agoSo cool! I first played Battle for Wesnoth back around 2008. It warms my crotchety old heart to see it still open source, actively developed, and attracting new players in 2026.

Games@lemmy.world•FBC: Firebreak Free Weekend + Double XP and Remedy discount on SteamEnglish
5·7 months agoI’m willing to accept that I’m just old and blind, but where does it actually say there’s a free weekend? I see plenty about the new mode and 60% off sale.
I don’t think I’ve been more surprised to see a game on a GDQ schedule than Richard Burns Rally. The 20 year old brutally difficult rally sim with a dedicated player base to this day. I can’t wait to see someone actually be good at it live!

351·8 months agoNow that’s very interesting and I really hope it works out for both GOG and the consumer. I definitely prefer not having a storefront directly tied to a specific developer or publisher (Steam/Valve included).

Games@lemmy.world•EA Announces No F1 26 Next Year, F1 25 Will Get a Major Expansion InsteadEnglish
21·9 months ago2026 is a new regulations year for F1 so the cars are very different, racing rules are different, there’s even an 11th team joining the fray. Yearly sports game expansions instead of whole new games is the obvious choice but for F1 specifically, this seems like the worst possible year to switch?

Games@lemmy.world•Years later, Arkane’s Dishonored is still a modern stealth classicEnglish
11·9 months agoDude it’s a blast. When they came out I played through each Dishonored once slowly, methodically, and non-lethal. Then immediately started over and hauled ass just slaughtering anything that got in my way. Both ways are valid and so much fun!

1·10 months agoIt would be nice if more people gave a shit about in depth reporting on the industry but it’s an ever-shrinking niche. I think that’s a problem with any “enthusiast press” though. The game industry is huge and has asinine amounts of cash sloshing around in it though, so maybe we just end up with a bigger gulf between sites regurgitating press releases and sites actually doing reporting?
Most importantly, it’s “press sneak fuck” thank you very much!

You make my day better, every day. Just wanted you to know that.
This is exactly what happened. To the tune of $20 billion.
The EA studio slaughterhouse is about to go into overdrive.
Ah shit I was really hoping that was a documentation issue, not an implementation bug. Deep down I knew the truth. Autoplay Dialogue will soothe that pain though. I’m going through my first playthrough and having to manual “Next” all the dialogue is a bummer.

AC2 and Brotherhood are both great games but yeah. That is some truly stiff competition in 2009 and 2010. Great games vs. incredible games.
