I’m a deeply weird broke person.

I may be living paycheck to paycheck but I see the inherent value in my fellow human beings without linking it to economic value.

This makes me happier than the richest man in recorded history.

I love living in a multicultural environment. Often I look at the people at my work and think, “This is the fulfillment of the dream that MLK Jr spoke about.” Diverse people, adults and children alike, learning from each other and caring about each other across different colors and ethnic origins. Sometimes we straight-up celebrate it, like by having “flag days” where we’re encouraged to bring food or dress up in the colors of our historical countries of origin. I see people wearing sports jerseys or hats from Jamaica, Ecuador, Trinidad, Liberia, Poland, Italy, India, Nigeria, and more. It’s so cool, it’s hard to imagine that some people would foam at the mouth over such multicultural celebration.

I mean, I certainly know racists, so I know it happens. But in my heart of hearts, I just don’t get it. Different voices and perspectives are invaluable to a society. The country I live in may be falling to fascism, but at least my little bubble at work (which explicitly continues to follow DEI initiatives) gets it. We’re a microcosm of the world, and it’s beautiful.

He won therefore he thinks he knows it all and has to share the path to success with the rest of us.
