I’d like to see free camping for anyone not visiting a National or Provincial park by car. Incentivize cycle touring :)

Very minor feel-good pledge. Makes me wonder how much it’ll actually cost the government, though I suppose it’s probably very little.

Makes a great sound byte, though I wonder how many people will actually take up their offer. I think if they add some tourism features like more busses and tour guides, along with some nature-related activities, we could get some serious traffic to these parks. Though admittedly I’d then worry about the negative impacts so many people would have towards these parks.

Its a nice gesture, but most national parks are two far away for most people that would like to visit.

I know it’s in a effort to boost the local economy and promote travel within Canada. But the truth is it’s cheaper to go to Europe for 2 weeks.

Where are you that National Parks are so inaccessible for you?

I’m not doubting, I have no perspective on this because I’m from Calgary where I go to them on a near weekly basis and it’s cheaper to go to them than anywhere else.

Funny thing is, very few Calgarians get to go to these places not everyone has a car and options for transit to Banff and Waterton is extremely limiting. It’s definitely a middle/upper class thing
