They are still calling it Fable hm? I know I should just ignore it, but re-using names makes me unreasonably mad.
This is Fable and has been released for a while:

Yeah, it’s a reboot. I just played through the original recently, and I can see the vision for how they’re expanding on a lot of the promises of that first game. There’s a really good chance they do justice by it.
I don’t think Microsoft actually releases games. They just announce them, delay them, and cancel them.
They release them sometimes, but only after they’ve gone through a period of mandatory enshittification.
ie. Apparently Starfield didn’t just have a regenerating O2 meter before Phil got his changes in, the reason there are so many ‘almost interactable’ O2 containers around is you were able to run out. Fuel too.
The game would be a lot more suspenseful with those features.
Then you’ve got RedFall, Halo 5, Gears 5, etc.
starfield was originally going to be much more survival based, running out of fuel and getting legit stranded possibly on some backwater planet nobody is on was a real possibility. this would have made outposts invaluable to your success as you can set them up as refueling stations across the galaxy
And sometimes they lay off all the developers, too!
Especially if those devs’ studio just released a surprise critically-acclaimed game that had millions of players and that basically everyone praised!
Also that “AAAA” studio that was founded specifically to have “unlimited resources” and make the new standard in video games and ended up being closed before they could finish one game.
If this isn’t the most Xbox thing I’ve heard in a short, short while.
I don’t think anyone is truly surprised by this… What’s going to hurt is when it’s inevitably cancelled and the studio is shut down.
We knew this was going to happen. There was no way they released Fable (8 years in dev) to die in the same season as GTA6. As soon as GTA6 got delayed I knew this fable wouldn’t come out this year.
Unlike something like Perfect Dark, this game seems far closer to being done, and what they showed of it was really impressive. Plus, if you thought shutting down Tango Gameworks was stupid, nothing would sink Xbox…sorry, XBOX…faster than shutting down this studio, since they’re the goose that lays the golden eggs known as Forza Horizon.
Thing is, you can’t trust what they show. Remember the Halo 2 fiasco.
Yeah, that’s pretty common. That type of demo was what Perfect Dark was, and it was obvious. You learn to spot one from the other, and I have a hard time explaining why Fable’s comes off as real, but at least part of it is its proximity to release and how much of what they showed was left to your imagination.
Fable being multi platform is still the weirdest one. Even weirder than the Halo CE remake campaign.
