i didn’t know it existed until yesterday, I live thousands of kilometers away, I’ve never seen it, and I never plan to see it.

this house definitely does not belong to me and I’m definitely not donating money to renovate our millionaire PM’s house.

    so stupid

What do you envision as the alternative?

The renovations are for the next prime Minister. Whoever that may be.

You don’t think the leader of Canada should have an official residence? Like they should just be in a bungalow in the suburbs?

It is Canada’s house, doesn’t belong to the PM, but when they reside there it’s a daily reminder that while PM they serve Canada.

There are practical reasons as well, not all houses are suitable from a security perspective, so… do we spend to renovate or relocate every PMs personal property?

Pretty much your thesis statement. In order for it to be worthwhile, you have to be familiar with it, and it has to be close to you.

Truly the centre of Canadian society.
