Once the piled up fuel (that’s been accumulating for the past hundred years or so since we’ve taken the stance that all forest fires are bad) are burnt through, we’ll stop seeing these big fires over and over.

Grassland comes before desert. There are bits that are coming back as grassland in northern Alberta already.
There have been other fires in other years.
