It’s such a shame. Harry Potter was a great series of books with great stories and characters that many millenials grew up with.

It’s a shame its author is such a fucking cunt and ruined the whole franchise for everybody.

It is a shame that vocal minority of the fans have become asshats. More millennials support HP than take your extremist stance.

That is why they keep opening HP stores in major cities and they have hr long waits to get in.

The author is a bigot and supporting HP supports bigotry. It doesn’t matter if it’s good or not, it matters what you’re complicit with.

Yes, it’s popular. Many evil things are.

I hope that the Harry Potter series outlives Rowling. Yes, it’s an imperfect series that Rowling’s prejudices seeped into, but there is still a lot of good to be found in it. Eventually, Rowling will die and fans will no longer have to worry about supporting transphobia. Some will still say it’s not okay to like Harry Potter, but I hope most people will be able to embrace the series

I hope so but I doubt the stain will ever fully wash off. I’ll always be wondering who is still involved in steering it who was a fellow-traveler of JKR.

If 30 years from now the IP owner makes a Ravenclaw-themed mad-science spin-off series with a trans wizard as the protagonist, then maybe I’ll think it’s salvageable.

It was, when we were kids and kinda stupid . It you take 5 mins, it’s a racist and sexist cesspool and the story is pond deep.

And don’t get me started on jk…

I feel they’re mostly better than the books 😐

Like in the book, Dobby’s funeral are a shame. The less sentimental shit I saw in those books. She really sucks at having any other emotion than hate.

I won’t even talk about the last one 😂 The first 2-3 were nice for kids.

Hp was loved, by myself, too. But even then, I’m not sure I’d ever thought of hp as great, just “comfortably decent enough”.

But yeah, jkr is a fucking monster.

I have always felt that she created a more interesting world than the story she told. I don’t mind the HP story, I love hogwarts and the wizarding world

I also have no issues with JKR and find calling her a “monster” rather ridiculous

Just because I don’t think she is a monster doesn’t mean I believe trans people shouldn’t have rights.

But when people asking me to make a ridiculous claim I tend to stand opposed to the ridiculous claim.

Then you haven’t been paying attention.

JKR is not just some writer who happens to be transphobic. There are plenty of distasteful writers I still enjoy - the difference is they didn’t turn their bigotries into a project.

She has made transphobia into her whole life. It is her primary political goal. It is what she spends her money and time on.

Elon Musk (who disowned his own daughter after she transitioned) complained that JKR’s Twitter contributions were too obsessed with trans people.

Not a ridiculous claim if you have the discussion and learn.

Why are you even here talking to me? To disagree? Can’t stand by and be disagreed with? Gotta start some shit on the internet because your life is too good?

Nah. It’s because this is a discussion that you have an interest in. Don’t act all shy and disconnected, when your words and your stance say otherwise.

I didn’t ask you for anything. You came here and disagreed on your own free will. Now ain’t that curious.

Trans people existing unharassed and legally able to exist but the characters in this fake story about magic children is really fun.
