An unnecessary request from the government has forced hundreds back to work
A strike isnt a strike if you can force people back to work
Labor has a right NOT to work
Dont care how “essential” they are, a nurse or air traffic controller- the rest of the citizens do not have the right to force striking workers back to work, period
Collectively ignore them, force their hand
and fuck whoever ordered this from the government- they have chosen sides against the rest of us
Somedays I have no idea what the NDP actually values.
I support the workers, but I do wonder had they been allowed to strike how that would impact the healthcare system? Would a strike action negatively affect Dynacare enough to force them to negotiate a better contract?
It’s just terrible that the NDP which is supposed to stand for workers’ rights intervened by ending the strike instead of mandating a new contract.
The choice was between a rock and a hard place. I’m glad they erred on the side of caution as the people should matter more than the economy and we all need more money in this new world economy. Lawmakers had decades to shore up legislation to protect the workers but they went all in on corporations. Wab Kinew made the right decision but workers everywhere (except corporate executives and their grotesquely huge bonuses) should be paid more money. Basic personal income should be a must moving forward. Food and shelter for all, at the very least would stabilize a lot of the social ills out there.
Nothing more Canadian than being forced back to work. Elbows up!
