Youth all over Canada are having their brains ratcheted by social media.
Of course they’re young, those are the ones on social media.
Seriously, why isn’t our government even remotely calling out the fact that meta services are litterally a brain wash tool used by the American government?
They are also the ones who don’t have living memory of the turmoil of the previous separation attempts.
Why are people so anti-sovereignty? You can think seperation is suboptimal but what is wrong with Québec leaving canada?
Young people are famously stupid
Don’t generalise a whole group.
Alright, then give me the list of all <25 separatists and we’ll go case by case.
Let them leave. Then if they want back in, fine them and make it hurt for a generation. If they succeed, then more power to them. We can finally take the French off of everything ;)
I don’t want to lose French outside of Quebec. Most quebecois don’t want to leave Canada…
Ya get what you show up and actually cast a vote for. We will see what happens.
It’s more nuanced than that. The current government, which may have been voted out by the time you read this, is conservative and not separatist, but has governed extremely badly. More than $1 billion spent on a website to renew driver’s licenses. Laws that are clearly designed to limit the visibility and public participation of muslims.
The Liberals were the government before that, and even for Quebec they were famously corrupt.
The Parti Quebecois, although they are separatists, has made real differences in the social fabric of the province:
- $5 daycare started almost 30 years ago
- banned corporate and union donations to provincial political parties
- pharmacare program since 1997 covering most prescription medications
- legislation to protect farmland from urban sprawl
So what does that leave us? The Canadian Party of Quebec that is even more right wing than the conservatives? Québec Solidaire, who are also separatist?
New Brunswick still has a lot of French speakers, the federal government isn’t going to kill their electoral chances to spite Quebec.
