That’s not a take I would have expected coming from Konami. Good for them.

Given how much of a shithole Konami is, I would have 100% expected them to be one of the first companies to enlist AI and fire all their devs.

      I’m shocked to this claim.

Being blindly ignorant of a very real threat to the industry is good for them?

I’m not a full time game dev. The times I’ve tried using Godot I don’t know how much Gen AI lends itself to it. Unless you build an engine in scratch you’re mostly stitching visual + audio elements together. Anytime I’ve tried to use Gen AI for it it backfires spectacularly.

Ethical concerns notwithstanding you need to be precise for animations to look legit and Gen AI just can’t do that. They often just look like garbage.

The only thing it’s been useful for is asking questions of “how do I do X? Point me to documentation “. Woo?

What’s been going on with Konami recently? They actually went back to video games, and even made a few good ones. Now this? Seems like they’re going in the right direction, which is surprising these days.

AI “won’t bring a significant change” to the game market

    *other than hardware prices

It already did by making it less affordable but what AI has definitely changed is the industry from the inside. By hollowing it out and driving young talent away from the big studios. But whatever happens next, people will continue to make and play games. One way or another. That will not change.

Based on how AI tells jokes I sincerely doubt AI could generate a unique game concept that’s actually fun.

You’ll still get shitty triple A games and shitty asset flips, and work of art games that are worth every penny just like you do now, so in that sense I agree.

Already tons of slop AI games beg to differ.

It is amazing these people will come out and lie like this.

DLSS 5 is just the down payment. Can you play rock, paper, scissors with AI? Or even better…can you play Chess with AI? Yeah, none of those games have great DLSS features, but it’s a start.
