He was thinking his opponents were in disarray. What he should have been doing, though, is remembering how quickly the right came together before the last election. They can unify pretty quickly, if temporarily, when it means these grifters will get a chance to rob the public coffers.

And thanks to the international right wing media ecosystem that has been built up over the last couple of decades whatever party emerges from that process can count on a significant amount of support no matter how obviously incompetent they have shown themselves to be very recently.

It isn’t just that they can unify, but they’re masters of cognitive dissonance. They’ll make up all kinds of excuses to rally around a single point, and they don’t often consider the other views of a politician so long as their personal interest is pandered to in some way. Conservative parties rarely split because they simply do not need to. Technically, they are split(CPC and LPC) but upsettingly simple branding has kept them separate.

Meanwhile, the same problem exists with our other major parties except instead of pushing left, most of the country falls in line with the “center” and we get full-blown capitalist goblins in the form of the LPC. The LPC claims that we need to make a sacrifice to fight the CPC but will NEVER admit that it’s the centrists who need to go progressive.
