“We wanted to have a little fun and simultaneously signal to the private sector that we won’t be precious about the little things, like the continued existence of 1000-year-old trees."

I’m not really that upset about conservatives winning overall but this makes me physically sick and is my single most important issue when it comes to my vote. It’s true they are going to cut it all and it’s not just a tragedy for BC but for the entire world. These ecosystems are some of the rarest on earth with thousands of endemic species. These forests, while small in numbers, still act as a buffer for climate change.

I’ll hopefully see you guys on the frontlines with me at Central Walbran this spring. They arrested 500 of us before giving up last time and it’s going to take a lot more of us holding the line this time.

In 1993 nearly 900 people were arrested at the Clayoquot protests and we can do it again. The facts are all there that those trees have made more money in tourism already than if they were cut down in the 90s.

Most conservative voters are christians, and to me, the cutting of these forests would be the equivalent of burning down their churches. This goes against every part of my worldview and I will risk everything to prevent it.

If this issue is important to you please get involved with the Ancient Forest Alliance. If you aren’t on the island you are welcome to stay at my house and I will happily drive you to camp and lend you any outdoor gear you will need.
