In particular, the government is proposing a new housing partnership directly with Manitoba, investing $1 billion through Build Canada Homes. The money will go to transitional housing and wraparound services – personalized supports that aim to address overlapping issues — in Winnipeg, and to building 2,000 new transitional and permanent supportive housing units in the city.

The other way to see it is that the Liberal party has been power for the last 11 years and barely done fucking anything. We STILL don’t have voting reform and they ran on that as a near single-issue in 2015. Nowadays they spend their energy rat-fucking our environment, handing huge sums of money to private corporations, and going after union actions.

The LPC doesn’t give a fuck about the working class.

Chapter 3 in the budget is where you can find all the affordability measures.

For working class: lower immigration levels, job creation.

For lower income working class: grocery benefit, child benefit, daycare.

For working class that do not own home: variety of policies that continue to drive down rental costs and first time home buying costs.

New here? Those are all little scraps to placate voters who want to be fooled.

None of them do. And unless you’re in a union, that includes the current NDP.

That is an insane thing to say, especially given how much Avi Lewis is fighting for us. A completely unnuanced, joke of a take built on nonsense passed down by decades of piss from the right.

I’m honestly a little embarrassed to even be dignifying your comment with a response except that I really want to tell you and your unfettered ignorance to go fuck yourselves.

I’ve literally sat there and listen to the man speak. Most of his ideas are at best half-baked, and the ones that aren’t will only really benefit you if you’re in a union. I’m not, and my guess is neither are you. In fact, listen to the man discuss his wealth tax idea. he literally shouts down anyone who asks him how that would work.

I’d love to see him do this shouting down, if you have a video of it.

So his plan for public grocery stores is only for people in unions? The fact that he would actually protect our environment only helps if you’re in a union? Lewis being the only one to call out Israel for its genocide and being the guy up there who wants to keep our money and resources here for the people instead of there for killing innocents is only good for unions?

And half-baked? One, no, but for two even if they were I would still prefer an attempt at helping people over the LPC successfully screwing us over. The worst case scenario with the NDP is still better than the best the LPC can offer.

I’d love to see him do this shouting down, if you have a video of it.

The segment that immediately comes to mind starts at 21:29 in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=846jxr3DWNE

She makes the mistake of asking him how his wealth tax would work, and he basically steamrolls her.

So his plan for public grocery stores is only for people in unions?

His plan for 50 public grocery stores is only for people in those 50 locations, and won’t reduce the price of food by 30-45%. He also wants the employees of these grocery stores to be unionized, so yes.

The fact that he would actually protect our environment only helps if you’re in a union?

How? I’m afraid to encourage someone to ask him, lest they not get a word in edgewise again.

Lewis being the only one to call out Israel for its genocide and being the guy up there who wants to keep our money and resources here for the people instead of there for killing innocents is only good for unions?

So you would agree with allowing Palestine to kill innocents in Israel, then? Because pulling away from one side does not a signal for the other side to stop make.

And yes, half-baked. What the host in the video I linked got out of him re: his wealth tax is basically “read Linda McQuaig’s book”. Which is not an answer if you intend to be the one running the country. Also half-baked: his public grocery store policy, which will do absolutely nothing for food prices outside the areas those 50 stores operate, and it’s questionable if they’d do anything useful inside that area.

Also, environmental policies are not pro-worker, nor are they anti-worker. But where you see Avi being pro-worker, I see him being pro-union. As someone who is not in a union, that won’t help me even if he were to be elected, which… let’s be real. There’s a reason he hasn’t picked a riding yet, and it’s not that BS about rebuilding the party.
