We are finally talking about this now eh? I lost a cousin over 12 years ago, vanished into thin air. Nobody cared. Especially the RCMP. Much like all these guys. A few posters and a lazy facebook post was all my beloved cousin ever got.
My favourite part of the article is this:
National statistics reflect a severe and often overlooked reality regarding violence against Indigenous men:
Between 1980 and 2012, Statistics Canada documented 1,750 Indigenous male homicide victims, compared to 745 Indigenous female homicide victims.
In this timeframe, 71% of all murdered and missing Indigenous people were men and boys.
According to 2020 Statistics Canada data, Indigenous men are seven times more likely to die by homicide than non-Indigenous people, and four times more likely than Indigenous women.
We hear so much about missing indigenous women. I had no idea the stat for men was 4 times higher. Why doesn’t anyone care?
There is almost certainly an active serial killer operating on the mid island for years now, and I hear random people saying this more and more. Sadly we are on our own over here it seems.
There was a serial killer in Ontario, Bruce MacArthur that was planting the remains in gardens he landscaped. He disappeared 8 south asian and middle eastern men from the gay village. I remember seeing the posters on stores in the area when I lived in the area.
If the group being taken isn’t high society then the cops won’t care. Prostitutes in Vancouver, middle eastern gays in Toronto, or poor people in Victoria. They don’t matter to the police so there isn’t a priority.
It kind of makes sense, most people have a routine, people they live with that depend on them. I wonder if homeless people just wander the streets, get high in different areas, are gone for days. Maybe the police have no means to solve something like that, and I’d be curious what their budgets are.
I’ve only ever heard of violence against women, highway of tears etc. That this was known and never mentioned is absolutely typical of how unvalued men are to society and how insignificant men’s journeys are. Nobody gives a fuck. 71% of the victims yet it’s never been brought up even during the highway of tears media coverage.
Followed highway of tears stories my entire adult life. Never heard of indigenous men going missing even once.
Call me a conspirator all you want but human trafficking is rampant in BC. It’s not just sex related. Young men are probably being kidnapped and forced into labour or harvested for organs. There is plenty of wilderness here to misbehave. Just go 10km out of town and you are in the sticks. It’s almost impossible to find someone who went missing for nefarious reasons here.
Talking about island specific, think about the population here:
Drunk tourists
People moving here alone because they are depressed and running from their issues
Transient workers from abroad
It’s ripe for this sort of crime and people think it’s way safer here than it actually is.
The rcmp just say all these men killed themselves but I know my cousin and he did not kill himself. He vanished into thin air.

Dude wasn’t even last spotted over there. Numerous reports of him being last seen in Duncan. This is how much the rcmp cared.

Hate likes to coop terms to hide that it’s hate. Feminism ≠ misandry.
Feminism ≠ misandry.
Strange, because that is 100% the source of all misandry, like how any attempt to bring political attention to men’s issues is painted as “misogyny”, simply because it’s men who are being paid attention to.
Such as domestic violence. Did you know that if you look at only non-reciprocal physical violence - as in, only one person is doing the physical striking - 71% of victims are men?
And yet, who is protesting the most loudly when people try to open up DV shelters for battered men using the same public funding that women’s shelters enjoy? Small clue: they invariably identify with the term you mentioned.
71%. You’d think there would be more shelters for a 71% proportion of physically-assaulted victims. And yet, while North America has tens of thousands of shelters for the other 29%, it has only three for the 71%.
Three. In all of North America. Because public funding for it is lethally radioactive to political careers.
Fuck right off, misogynist, can’t even acknowledge the boot comes from above, no, got to “other” women instead
Yep. “Society” is not particularly known for its treatment of women, either. It’s “watch out mate, he’s after your cookie” over and over again
Fuck right off, misogynist, can’t even acknowledge the boot comes from above, no, got to “other” women instead
Men are the vast majority under that boot. Read the f**king article, ya dingus.
Across Canada, the number of missing and murdered Aboriginal men is almost 5× that of aboriginal women. And yet, where are the nation-wide initiatives to solve aboriginal men’s murders and disappearances?
Suicides of men are over 5× that of women. Yet where is the pearl-clutching over those deaths?
Homelessness is almost ¾ men. And yet, homeless shelters for only women outnumber those for only men, and men’s shelters frequently have to empty out completely if there is any overflow from women’s shelters at all.
Workplace deaths of men are more than 9× that of women. And headlines only occur when it is women who suffer.
Plus, of all the jobs that aren’t at parity between men and women, the only ones women ever clamour to target are those with air conditioning and great lumbar support. Where are all the female lumberjacks? Where are the female crabbers? The coal miners and oil rig workers and the framers and plumbers and roofers?
crickets
Yyyyyup. Thought so.
You look at pretty much any personal calamity except those which are purely gender-specific, and men almost always are the vast majority of victims.
And yet, it is only those solutions that address women which are not “misogynistic”. Hell, it took nearly 40 years for “men’s mental health month” to gain traction against exactly those accusations of misogyny.
So fuck right off back, you flaming gender bigot.
No women are against men getting help. Feminism offers a framework that explains many of the problems you keep dancing around. Unfortunately, you don’t actually read any of it and instead get your worldview from incel memes and social media. You don’t care about men getting help as much as you care about creating weird wedge issues where if someone gets help it must be taking away from yourself.
You are fueling the gender war.
Only women get to do that?
You are fueling the gender war.
So true equality is “fuelling the gender war”, eh?
Why call feminism “equality”, then, if it is nothing of the sort?
Suggesting that men are betraying themselves by supporting feminism is fueling the gender war.
*Getting rid of gender related bias in mental healthcare is feminist.
*Removing gender-based barriers to all careers is feminist.
*Paternal leave policies are feminist.
*Government provision of comprehensive and inexpensive childcare services is feminist.
These policies directly support and help men. They improve men’s lives. Men should support them, if their goal is to increase opportunities, autonomy, and improve quality of life for other men. Other feminist policies seek to bring women’s opportunities, autonomy, and quality of life up to par with those of men, which indirectly helps men, as it helps the women around them be more capable, self-sufficient, and better community members.
Suggesting otherwise propagates an imaginary point of tension and stirs up distrust of women in young men. In other words, it fuels the gender war.
It was always a lie, they want advantages, not equality.
Fuck off. No, “they” don’t want advantages. Try speaking with a woman in real life, you might find they are normal people!
Why doesn’t anyone care?
They only people who care about a man are the people he is paying for, and maybe not even then.
